Area code was the brain child of a builder-developer looking for unique surfaces to challenge the residential building industry. Through an arduous process of travel and "hands on" training, Michael Fay uncovered a myriad of Italian cement, lime-based products, and techniques. A passion was unleashed! It is this passion that has grown and matured into a company translating Old World technologies into a creative business, serving the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

The basic premise was to simulate the best attributes of European excellence creating a company based on superior products, systems and technical support. We were to partner with Canadian and European manufacturers creating the elements needed to install interior/exterior walls in such a way that elegance was not compromised. This lead to the development of precast counter tops, floor tiles, etc., produced domestically and in Latin America. In addition to our product line, we provided hand-troweled integrally colored walls and floors that blended with the design of each singular project.

In 1998, technology enabled us to complete a total package for the architect and designer by creating monolithic poured-in-place integral cement/lime floor toppings. We discovered by working in conjunction with our manufacture partners we could offer a topping that actually was integrally colored and complemented the esthetic of a cement floor. Our color is not topical or stained!

Not only was the floor superior to the competition of existing self-leveling products but more resilient. Our new Cement fx Floor Topping is high traffic, designed for commercial, retail, and residential use. The years of trial and error in our R&D facilities has paid off.

We accept that there are competitive lime/cement products for walls & floors, however we are the only company that takes pride in the evolution and passion of our offerings. We only distribute products and systems for the discriminating taste. In addition, our technical staff can recreate and expedite any color and custom effect. We are a full service company offering approved installers throughout the U.S. and abroad. We also take great satisfaction in working with quality installers selected by either client or contractor.

In essence, we have developed a niche business catering to the client interested in color, consistency, and creative solutions. Our technicians and marketing people all have a vested interest in the success of the business and its creative undercurrent.
